Unified mailboxes
Inbox, Drafts, Sent, Spam, Trash and Archive combine the matching folders of all your accounts, while each account's own folders stay available below.
What is combined
FOLD gives every server folder a role. It takes the role from the special-use marking the server sends (RFC 6154). If the server does not mark its folders, FOLD uses the folder name, for example Sent, Gesendet, Drafts, Entwürfe, Junk, Spam, Trash, Papierkorb, Deleted or Archive.
The unified mailboxes at the top of the sidebar collect all folders with the same role:

A unified mailbox appears only if at least one account has a folder with that role. Its unread count is the sum over all accounts. Sort in the list toolbar switches between Newest first and Oldest first.
Outbox
The Outbox is not a server folder. It holds messages that wait for their undo window, a scheduled time or a new attempt after an error. On the Mac it shows up in the sidebar only while it contains messages; on iPhone and iPad it sits below Sent and opens as a sheet. See Undo send and Offline and message integrity.
Account folders
Below the unified mailboxes, every account lists its real server folders with their hierarchy and unread counts. On the Mac they sit in the Accounts group, which is collapsed by default; expand it and then the account you need. On iPhone and iPad they appear in the Accounts section.
A suspended account is not synced and disappears from the sidebar, including the unified mailboxes. Use Suspend and Activate on the Mac in Settings > Accounts, on iPhone and iPad in the account list under your account picture.
Working across accounts
Every message belongs to one account, and actions such as reply, flag, archive or delete act on that account.
- Moving is possible only within one account. FOLD reports Moving is only possible within the same account. otherwise.
- A reply goes out from the account that received the message, with the matching address; see Aliases, names and signatures.
- Empty Trash in the unified Trash empties the trash of every account shown there after you confirm Permanently empty Trash?. In one account’s trash folder it empties only that account.
